WE ARE LIVE!!! WHOOP! WHOOP!

I'm sure everyone of you has already read the one or the other blog post in his lifetime. Blogging has become quite popular recently, even becoming a profession as a blogger... Turns out, blogging is also quite effective for spreading awareness of your latest research, papers or some other interesting topic you would like to discuss. For those of you who joined todays coffee session, you know what I'm talking about. If you couldn't join, we hope you to see you next time! Anyways, to bring some clarity into this article, let me explain briefly what it is about. So grab a coffe, sit down with me for a few minutes, and read on...

The idea of blogging, tweeting, and getting active on social media as a group has been around for a while, but we never really followed up on it. Many other groups from the Uni-Wien have a Twitter account, LinkedIn Group, etc. and are actively using these platforms to share their research and making it easily accesible to the public. I'm sure some of you are even personally using Twitter and co. in order to stay up-to-date on the latest news in your field. This means you are all at least aware of the potential and opportunities associated with having a public science profile.
Therefore, Thierry's idea to get active on social media as a group was met with plenty of enthusiasm. Bola quickly jumped in on it, mentioning he would definitely use a group Twitter account to share and publish the latest news in the field (@Bola, I will hold you accountable for this ;) ).
So to follow up on this and prevent the idea from getting sweept under the carpet again, I would like to introduce to you our first blog-article! We encourage everyone to write a short blog-article about his or her newly published papers in the future. Keep it short but include the main findings and the core principles. We will collect and publish these articles here on our website. This has two advantages. First, we raise awareness to our group. Second, we will raise awareness to our papers and publications, which in turn will raise awareness to our, which then again will raise awareness to all of our papers, which again will raise... You get the idea!

So please take part in this initiative, spread the news of our latest publications, and get active with us on social media. Looking forward seeing you there!

Until then, keep sharing.
Cheers,
Stefan

PS: Twitter account to be followed!
PSS: I'm not sure who can access this article... It is supposed to be visible only by the group though.
